That old hunk of junk laptop that you have kicking around could be more than a paperweight… And it might be easier to fix than you’d think.

I have a old Asus laptop that is similar. 720GB HDD 8MB catch. Sucks, HDD is pegged at 100% in task manager almost all the time, and anytime you are trying to do anything. It has a I7-3630QM that is not utilized hardly at all along with the DDR3 1336 MHz memory.

I am going to be installing a 960GB Adata SSD with 3D NAND, that should be a big upgrade. I am using Windows 7 Backup & Restore because it is there. This should be a large improvement. I also know how to repartition the drive after reinstall using windows backup and restore. You need the CD it tells you to make from the OS, a Hard Drive, and the SSD you want to recover to. It worked on a HP I used to have a long time ago, It should work now.

It had a partition of C: = 278GB total and D: = 398 GB . I want to do C = 480 and D = 480 or something close to that. Than putting data back on to D's partition. This is because Asus did some stupid stuff. They have Windows Recovery Environment in between C and D, and Recovery before C. Oh and day 1 restore after D which is 20.01 GB. So, you lose 212 Plus GB to recovery partitions. 5 partitions. Only need 2 at the most, except EFI system partition. What the hell. What a Mess.

You would be surprised how much better a 3630QM and 8GB memory is than the standard stuff they are selling now in a local store.

could of upgraded the cpu to a i7-620m

42crazyguy says:

Lol at the people mad at this video. This is the best way to speed up an old HDD laptop. You could put in more ram but that won't inherently make the computer faster like an SSD will. In reality there's pretty much nothing else you can do to improve an old laptop. So I'm not sure why everyone is pretending like there is more you could put into this video

ACM says:

come and switch HDD to SSD in my moms laptop, she complains about slow computer but only trusts to work on hardware university licenced guys…so tired of whining, i could do it but i need someone with PC licence to do it

Jade says:

Itโ€™s only painfully slow because youโ€™re so used to SSDs ๐Ÿ˜›
Edit: Iโ€™ve never seen something running from a hard drive that is that slow. Maybe the disk is dying?

My computer used have color but now it doesn't because my brother messed it up. Help.
