“A customer came into the store with screen damaged iPhone 6+ for repair. The customer wanted repair of broken screen and complained of Apple genuine battery not holding charge. We removed the customer’s Otterbox and prepared to book the phone in. Then, the customer picked up phone and applied a regular amount of pressure to the screen, the same as any normal person would do everyday during regular use. The battery failed and exploded. Initial force of the explosion caused the screen to come off the phone. Our staff extinguished the phone with a fire extinguisher. We had to evacuate the store due to fumes and could not open for the rest of the day. Draw your own conclusions, but imagine if this happened five minutes earlier when the guy was driving to the shop and not in the shop.”

The idiot was squeezing the cracked glass into the battery

Another reason to go to an Apple Authorised Service Provider or Apple Store. They would not have allowed a customer to stand there applying pressure to an expanded phone with a cracked screen. The 6 Plus came out over two years ago, who knows how old this is handset is, how many dodgy screen repairs it's had by backyard outfits. Luckily no one was hurt. Do not apply pressure to any swollen battery, or this will happen! Some places actually replace a broken iPhone screen by replacing the glass melting the old glue with a heat gun! Crazy. Definitely likely to have issues like this down the track. The video poster claims it was still a genuine Apple battery inside… maybe… who can tell now? And has the screen been replaced previously? And how was that done? Too many questions. Main thing is, no one got hurt.
